NOGA’S RESCUE TERRAIN VEHICLE IS "READY TO RUMBLE"

New Castle, PA- Noga Ambulance continues to enhance their ability to respond in our communities with the addition of their Kubota RTV. With the cooperation of the Department of Health & EMSI, the EMS Strike Team at Noga Ambulance was able to purchase this specialized off road vehicle that is available for use in Lawrence County.

After returning from their deployment to hurricane relief efforts in Louisiana, the Noga Ambulance strike team identified the need to move people, patients, and equipment in both highly congested and remote locations that are inaccessible by a traditional ambulance. This need has been met with the deployment the RTV (Rescue Terrain Vehicle).

Equipped with a stretcher and seating for three attendants, this four-wheel drive diesel utility vehicle can get life saving equipment and personnel where they need to be. This was demonstrated on the night of March 11, 2007, as the RTV assisted water rescue crews from stations 100 & 200 in the strip mines of Mahoning Township. The RTV was able to transport a patient and equipment from behind the reaches of any accessible roads.

“We are extremely pleased to offer this unique piece of equipment to the public safety of Lawrence County. With some of our rugged terrain and difficult search and rescue operations, it is going to be a valuable asset for many years to come,” said Brian Shaw, Chief at Noga Ambulance Service.

In addition to the recent Mahoning Township response, the RTV has also been used at the Downtown Fireworks Festival where it transported six patients from within the highly congested festival area to waiting NOGA ambulances. The EMSI strike teams also used the RTV to transport personnel and supplies while patrolling the 84 Lumber Golf Classic in Fayette County last October.

“Our strike team mission was to assist with two outdoor concerts, with approximately 50,000 participants,” said Deputy Chief Alan Martino. “We supported Fayette County EMS and the Kubota RTV helped us accomplish that task. Being able to carry all lifesaving equipment, and safely remove a patient in dense areas of people to an awaiting ambulance was one of the keys to a successful mission,” he added.

The RTV and trailer remain ready for deployment from NOGA’s Neshannock Township station. For additional information or to schedule a training session at your department, please contact Chief Shaw or Chief Martino at 724-652-6228.
